  • ♡ LHC Examinations (bread and butter of cathlab)
  • ♡ Meeting the cardio techs, nurses and cardio regs, fellows and consultants - dw they're all very friendly! :)
  • ♡ Consolidating pre-training readings (anatomy of coronary arteries, procedure steps, equipment)
  • ♡ Don't forget to bring a small book to take notes! (Bring a pen at your own risk...)
  • ♡ Get pumped for all the new knowledge and world of cathlab, you got this!

Workflow

All examinations begin with first helping bring the pt into the room (check ID) and only then coming back to the console area to set up the computers. After the examination, help bring the pt out before closing the pt on the Siemens system/completing documentation.

1. Prepare Patient in the Room

2. Set Up Documentation

3. Set Up X-ray Equipment

4. During the Examination

Changes depending on procedures and cardiologists workflow, but generally:

5. Ending Examination

LEARNING AREAS

Anatomy

Watch youtube videos and take notes on the coronary arteries. Probably the most important area to begin study before beginning training.

Equipment

Siemens Artis Q is the fluoro system in labs 1-6. 7 is Canon, almost exclusively used for PPMs. Other equipment will be taught during training.

Procedures

Let's put our knowledge together with some common procedures that are performed day-to-day at the cathlab!
